The Jury’s verdict was announced and the prizes were awarded last Thursday, 16 September 2010, on the opening day of the exhibition following the competition and held at the Galeria Bielska BWA. The 2010 Grand Prix (10,000 zlotys) was awarded to Katarina Bajo from Slovakia for her rocking chair “Play”. It was handed over by Mr. Jacek Krywult, Mayor of the city of Bielsko-Biała, which sponsored Projekt ARTING.
Two exhibitions were opened on 16 September 2010: of the prototypes prepared for the Projekt ARTING competition and an accompanying exhibition called MATERIA PRIMA. On the same day, the Jury’s verdict was announced and the prizes were awarded. The exhibitions run until 31 October.
Our Grand Prix winner, Katarina Bajo, has agreed to conduct workshops for children, where she will be demonstrating how to construct a recycled-paper rocking chair, which earned her the award. The workshops will be held on Saturday, 23 October, at 10am. Children aged 7-12 can be enrolled at the Galeria Bielska BWA
What does “Product - Representation” mean? Well, we all want to be proud of the place we call home. We like to show our visitors what a beautiful city we have; its great architecture, galleries, museums, parks and gardens. We want to share with them our restaurants with their excellent regional cuisine, and tell them about our fantastic festivals. And don’t forget to mention our skills in making great films for children, modern gliders and car production, etc, etc. But what determines that a product is associated with or represents one specific region?
The exhibition following the 6th Industrial Design Competition Projekt ARTING 2010 is a good opportunity to try to sum up our activities so far and consider which elements of the project have been successful and which need to be changed, improved and developed.

This year, several new elements have been introduced. The most important and obvious one is the project’s website, developing all the time and acting both as a source of up-to-date information and online archives for the previous competitions. For the first time, the entries could be submitted only online and this idea considerably improved the procedure as the data were easier to organize while the system of signing up and voting allowed us to monitor public interest in the competition.
